In these dark works, I've shifted my focus away from naturalistic domestic settings to an enigmatic, and some might say, unsettling place. These floating, lost souls could be heroes and heroines of Greek tragedy, or mythic characters caught in a Promethean struggle, or simply beautiful figures confronting only their own inner demons. No matter their identity, they emerged from a well of deep emotion.

And, as in all my paintings since 1990, these works were painted with my (non-dominant) left hand.
